Who Named Mickey Mouse?

What does Mickey Mouse have to do with Marriage?

A well known pyschologist, Dr. John Gottman, has done extensive research on the damaging effects on marriage as well as the healing and enriching effects on marriage. We call him the "Einstein of Marriage."

One of Gottman's suggestions is for husbands to take influence from the wife. Research suggests that women have the practice of taking the husband's suggestion; "true partnership only occurs when a husband can do so as well," says Gottman.

So how does this relate to Mickey Mouse? Well, Mickey's name was originally planned to be Mortimer Mouse by Walt's idea. His wife, Lillian, suggested that he be named something "cute," like Mickey Mouse. And then a legend was born.

You as a wife, or your wife's influence, may not get you your next jackpot, but it will certainly improve the success of your marriage. A marriage is all the more valuable.

In what ways has your wife influence you and what was the positive outcome by accepting her influence? Can you think of other great historic events at the cause of the husband accepting influence by his wife?
